Affordable/Social Housing _ Newport VIC. Australia _ Completed 2017

Commissioned by Housing Choices Australia, this project comprises four compact, affordable/social housing units on an infill site in Newport, Melbourne.

The layout of each dwelling revolves around a north facing courtyard that funnels midday sun into all Living spaces.  Designed over two levels, each dwelling has an accessible bedroom on grade, complying with Liveability Standards whilst ensuring accommodation flexibility over time.       

Housing Choices Australia is a national, not-for-profit housing provider creating safe, quality, affordable housing for people with disabilities and/or those struggling to find a home in Australia’s challenging private rental market.  The Newport Affordable Housing development is the first of a number of collaborations between BENT Architecture and HCA, and continues our ongoing work within the public, social and affordable housing sphere.
